Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron 379

Our Story

379 Glengarry Mustangs Air Cadets is a programme for youth aged 12-18 in the Eastern Ontario area. Since 1 october 1984 cadets at 379 Sqn meet each week to learn about aviation, citizenship, leadership, health & fitness, and more. They participate in sports at least once each month, survival weekends in the field twice each year, and various other special events such as ceremonial parades, swimming, mess dinners, etc.

The squadron is financially supported by the 379 Sponsoring Committee, an annual donation from the Alexandria Royal Canadian Legion branch 423 and through donations from others. The squadron is a registered charity. The cadets help out raising funds to offset the costs of activities.

Come join us Tuesday evenings from 6-9 at the Glengarry District High School! (We do meet elsewhere for special activities some weeks, so please send an email first so we can confirm our location.)

Many cadets have come and gone throughout the years. Lots of good memories.

Our goal

The goal of the Canadian cadet programme is to instill in cadets good citizenship and leadership skills, promote physical fitness and stimulate an interest in aviation and the air element of the Canadian Forces. The Canadian Cadet Programme is the largest federally sponsored youth program in Canada.

In 2017 cadets from our squadron went on a trip to Europe to be at the 100th commemoration of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. The unforgettable 8 day trip brought them to Ypres, Vimy, Amsterdam and Groesbeek.

In 2019 some of our cadets will go on a D-Day trip bringing them to Normandy and Italy.
